The new branch is in, ambitiously titled 3.0.0.
We may snag releases from this along the way (more 2.4.x, 2.5.x, etc), but we may end up with 3.0.0 quicker than we think.
In any case, its open season, features, etc.
just be sure to be verbose in the Changelog, and start mentioning which files/lines you play with.
