It should not matter if the id is positive or negative.
What do you mean encoding menus? You mean with unicode? I should add that to the todo list. That would entail internationalization support, through gnu gettext.
I plan on working on that for a future release.

When I tried encoding menus, but nothing happened. And I found the ids are negative. Why? If I changed to positive number, the menu can execute.

Anyway, I removed the negative id numbers.
