In the prompt, using the keyboard to navigate before the edit point is not allowed.  Do you think I should:

a.  Make this an option.
b.  keep it.
c.  scrap it.

The argument for scrapping it is actually rather strong, since currently you have to use the mouse to select text, and scrapping it would make returning to the top of the prompt output a snap.

The reason it was there in the first place was so hitting 'home' wouldn't send the cursor someplace you could not type.

One possible compromise would be to keep 'home' as is, but scrap the rest entirely.  (Eg  Ctrl+Home would work as expected in a text control).
