I've noticed two things. One, thanks indirectly to limodou (he brought my attention to the encoding menu, and I thought of this):
the encoding menu may be off.
In other words, it "encodes" the current file. This seems useless, and will be removed soon.
Second, I've noticed an error with the default arguments to the Shell Commands.
These should be fixed soon in 2.4.1.
