Initial Comment:
When using the Eclipse compiler and creating a Java applet, the SerialID warning still appears, even though the appropriate checkbox has been un-checked in the preferences dialog. There are also a few other Eclipse warnings that appear (variable x is never read) that are a little confusing to students.
