Initial Comment:
I am trying to open files and when I do (after
selecting "Open" in File Chooser) the application
hangs.  I am also receiving an error message when the
application first launches.  It states

The interactions window was terminated by a call to
System.exit();

I am using JDK1.4.1 and using the latest build of the
code base on Linux.
