Summary: DrJava hangs when too many files open

Initial Comment:
After about 30 files are opened, an attempt to open another file 
causes DrJava to hang. Maybe we don't want to support users 
opening that many files, but it would be better if we signaled an 
error instead of hanging. I opened this many files quite easily by 
invoking DrJava at the command line with a regular expression 
argument matching all the files in a directory.

I am running drjava-20020925-0638 on Mac OS 10.2. Incidentally, 
DrJava was never able to connect to the interactions JVM during 
the entire session.
