I'm posting this here, since I was denied rights to update the tracker item directly. . . . I was the one who changed the keyboard shortcut to ESC originally. I didn't realize that ESC was already bound to an action because there is no documentation for that feature and no visual indication in the app that it exists. It is now possible to clear the current line by pressing the down key, so we wouldn't be losing a significant amount of functionality if that feature was removed or changed to a different shortcut. ESC is also generally used to escape actions in progress, not to edit state. Therefore, I think it would make more sense to change the key command for clearing the line, rather than changing the menu shortcut. Command-B is sometimes used for Clear on Mac OS (it's right next to the clipboard shortcuts) - perhaps we could also use that shortcut. Command-Escape on the Mac is dangerously close to Command-Option-Escape (the option key is next to the Command key), which is a reserved shortcut for the Force Quit dialog. Considering the functionality of Abort Current Interaction, it could be very confusing if the shortcut was incorrectly typed. -- Peter |
