Initial Comment:
Problem occurs in both PC and Mac with version drjava-stable-20090821-r5004

Create a class with an explicit toString() method.
Create a subclass with no explicit toString() method.

In interaction pane, make a object of the subclass.  Enter "object" by itself to get printout using toString() of super class implicitly -- works.
Enter object.toString() and get error message about not being able to find a qualifying toString().
Works in a program built in the environment.
