Initial Comment:
In trying to open a folder, if you navigate to the folder and do not select anything, and hit ok, the path that it returns is the full path, with the last folder repeated.

Specifically, in setting the properties of a project, such as source directory, navigating to directory /Users/preed/Documents/drjava/src and not selecting anything returns /Users/preed/Documents/drjava/src/src .

This may have been the problem we experienced trying to open a folder recursively as well.
