Summary: Default Compiler Message
Initial Comment:
The default string displayed in the Compiler Output tab should be different from the string displayed after a successful compilation. This would allow a user to tell at a glance whether he has compiled something within DrJava yet or not.
This is primarily an issue when a user cannot compile because DrJava cannot find a compiler or because the selected compiler doesn't function properly within DrJava (i.e. JSR14 1.2, javac 1.4). It can be misleading to see a "successful" message when no compilation is possible. This would also be relevant when a user switches from one compiler to another. Therefore, when a compiler is first setup or swapped, the message should be distinct.
I would be satisfied with a blank, "stateless" message. A better solution would be to verify that the compiler is ready and display either a prompt or a warning, e.g. "No compiler has been specified. Please choose a compiler in the Preferences dialog in the Edit menu."
