OK - I'm trying to configure my Linuxbox so that I can get hardware accel. with OpenGL-appz. But I need a hint to get everything right. My Linux configuration is: RedHat 6.2 Kernel 2.3.99-pre9 XFree86 4.0.0 (from RawHide) My chipset is: Intel 440BX My video-adapter is: Matrox MGA G400 MAX My default screen-res. is 1920x1440 Without doing anything else OpenGL-appz run fine but slow in big windows. I assume that this is because everything is software emulated. Now, as an attempt to enable harware-accel. I have done the following: I have compiled my kernel with DRI-support, but not with DRI-support for any specific graphics-adapter since G400-max is not listed (Voodoo and GMX 2000 is the possible choises.) I assume that this means that G400-max is not supported :( On the other hand, by skimming through the archive of the "Dri-devel"-list, it seems that some people actually have success with similar configurations. My guess is that a kernel-module supporting G400-max is available somehow. If this is what I need where do I find the module? If this is not relevant, what is it then that I need to make it work? I have also enabled AGP-support. I don't know if this is mandatory, but I suspect that it will speed up things. I have modified the DRI-section in my XF86Config to be: Section "DRI" Mode 0666 EndSection The Modules-section is by default: Section "Module" Load "GLcore" Load "dbe" Load "dri" Load "extmod" Load "glx" Load "pex5" Load "record" Load "xie" EndSection If your help would benefit from seeing my entire XF86Config please tell me so.
