hi I'm trying to get an NVIDIA TNT graphics card working with DRI using 2.4.1 kernel and latest download of DRI. i'm testing it without actually installing it. I assume i need to use NVIDIA's own drivers but i get some errors in my XFree86 log file. Being rather new to linux i have no idea how to correct them and would appreciate any help you can give me |

I pulled down the latest CVS from sourceforge this morning. The make World chokes on the appres directory. Is there a workaround for this? I removed the reference to the appres directory in the Makefile to push the compile through (still running). Is this a reasonable fix? Message void if penguin violated. Don't mess with the penguin. ______________________________________________ FREE Personalized Email at Mail.com Sign up at http://www.mail.com/?sr=signup |

Hi everybody. I'm trying to migrate a project from Windows to Linux that needs 3D acceleration in two monitors at the same time. Under Windows we were using a "Matrox G450 DualHead" video card but under Linux this video card only accelerates the first monitor. We confirmed this behavior with the Matrox tech support. Has anybody worked in a project with these requirements (Linux+2 monitors+3D acc)? Which configuration did you use? Thanks a lot. |

I've been trying to get hardware accelleration using an i810 chipset on xfree86 4.0.3. The various modules and settings seemed to have worked, but there looks like there could be problems doing memory allocation. X starts up fine, except there's no hardware accelation. Is the agpgart module loaded? Is X configured properly? I'm pretty sure the 2.4.7 kernel modules are good. I know that people used the 2.4.5 modules. Okay, two things, with the message "AGP not available", do you have AGP support on your motherboard? If so, the module might not be loading. If you did actually complie it as a module then use lsmod and see if the module is loaded. If it isn't loading, then try: modprobe agp_gart agp_try_unsupported=1 Also, with your X config., can you post the "Device" section of the X config. --- Aapo Mäkinen <ama...@so...> wrote: > >Is the agpgart module loaded? > > startx script outputs following: > > (EE) RADEON(0): [agp] AGP not available > > What's that supposed to mean? Hello again With command modprobe agpgart agp_try_unsupported=1 I succesfully loaded the kernel module agpgart.o I guess I should modify /etc/modules.conf in order to make the module loaded during every boot. However, still with the module loaded, startx still complains agp not available. And yes, my motherboard does support AGP. "Device" section of XFconfig: Section "Device" Identifier "Radeon" Driver "ati" VideoRam 32768 EndSection I greatly appreciate your help and cooperation. -------------- ama...@so... ajm...@st... |

After loading the agpgart module, then try loading the DRI module. If the DRI module was loaded before agpgart was, the module will not successfully load. Make sure you load the agpgart module first, and then follow it with the module for DRI w/ the Radeon (being modprobe radeon). See if that works ... this is assuming you tried to load the Radeon module before the agpgart module that is ... - Chris Thielen " Peace, Love, 'n Linux." --- Aapo Mäkinen <ama...@so...> wrote: > Hello again > > With command modprobe agpgart agp_try_unsupported=1 > > I succesfully loaded the kernel module agpgart.o > I guess I should modify /etc/modules.conf in order > to make > the module loaded during every boot. > > However, still with the module loaded, startx still > complains agp not available. > > And yes, my motherboard does support AGP. > > "Device" section of XFconfig: > > Section "Device" > Identifier "Radeon" > Driver "ati" > VideoRam 32768 > EndSection > > I greatly appreciate your help and > cooperation. > -------------- > ama...@so... > ajm...@st... > > _______________________________________________ > Dri-users mailing list > Dri...@li... > https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/dri-users __________________________________________________ Terrorist Attacks on U.S. - How can you help? I have a Radeon LE card and everything works fine except DRI, if I don't load the DRM module the server works perfectly, but if I load it and run and GLX program my computer completely hangs requiring a hard reboot, not even logging in remotely works, the box is completely non-responsive. glxinfo works and reports information, but even glxgears causes the hang. Where should I look for someting mis-configured. I am using kernel 2.4.9 and the Xfree86 out of CVS. The GLX and DRM still loads correctly, but hangs the box whenever it is used.
