I have two items. First, will someone bring back the binary snapshots
for monolithic X? Weekly builds would be fine. Most distributions won't
be using modular X until the fall of 2006. Second, many users of
Unichrome Pro chipsets suffer from hard lockups with the current driver
when running OpenGL applications. Textures seem to be involved with the
problem as glxgears runs merrily without fault. Granted, the 2.6.16.x
kernels don't seem too stable themselves with certain Via chipsets,
especially those kernels greater than 188.8.131.52. Other than potential
kernel problems, is the following bug which was identified last year
closer to resolution? From the OpenChrome bug tracker, the blame seems
to rest with the DRI. This problem is a major one which affects many
users including me.
The OpenChrome driver, rev 189, runs quite reliably with EXA and
ShadowFB enabled, but 3D applications do not.
