I run two displays without the Xinerama extension. My problem is that if
I enable Dri, X never loads and hangs with a black screen. If I remove
my second screen, X will load and I get working 3D acceleration. If I
remove DRI, I get two working screens with no acceleration. The matrox
will not do 3D, and never will. I just want 3D on my primary screen (the
ATi Radeon 9200), without having to restart X in a new configuration.
I'm running X.org 6.8.0 at the moment, but I had the same exact issue
with XFree 4.3.0. I've thought of a few solutions, but I need advice. Is
there a configuration option to disable dri on the pci Matrox card? Will
ATi's binary drivers work for my configuration? Do I need to find a Dri
supported PCI card instead? When I had a GeForce, nVidia's binaries
allowed me 3D on just one screen. Ever since I wanted to use my faster
Radeon, I've been stuck with a less than optimal situation. Thank you.

Try disabling AGPFastWrite option. That's known to lockup some systems
with ATI 9200 card. It's mentioned in Wiki help pages at http://dri.sf.net.
