i am not familiar with the very latest snapshot design.
maybe its just that "make depend" is further required
on the linux kernel tree to create some generated files.
it might be that /lib/modules/<kernel-version>/build symlink
or /usr/src/linux symlink dont point to where they should
point. another aspect might be that the main Makefile in
the Linux kernel tree does have different suffix for the
name of the kernel - but thats a thing i know of from
RH kernel sources which call self build kernels *custom.

Subject: [Dri-users] Radeon9600Pro and DRI drivers compile error
I have DL'd the Radeon and R200 20030816/17 DRI drivers.
Each time I go to install, it bails when it tries to compile the modules.
The dri.log says it can't find the kernal config. Yet the .config file is
where it normaly would be (/usr/src/linux).
I am using Mandrake 9.1 and didn't have problems previously runing the dri
