I am currently running Fedora Core 2 with the
ATI 3.9.0 drivers installed. The drivers work well
enough in not locking up the Linux 2.6.6 kernel but
exhibit lots of horizontal white streaks (static)
at the 1600x1200 resolution I am using. Since we
are forced to use the non-free drivers for 3D
acceleration I was wondering if anyone here knew of
some workaround to eliminate this static. The
ViewSonic VP201s is attached via the digital connection.
Also I have tried using...
Option "TMDSCoherentMode" "off"
but it doesn't seem to help. I recall the older
installation notes for the ATI non-free drivers
use to mention the above as a fix for this static
problem. Perhaps I should try forcing a different
freq for 1600x1200?
Thanks in advance for any help on this. The ATI
driver works well (increasing the framerate for
glxgears from 350 to 3000 fps) otherwise. If I
can only kill the static...sigh.
