Hi dri-users, I'm testing dri patches on my radeon M7 64 MB DDRAM device and the latest radeon patch hangs my gnome2 and reboots the Xserver. I'm using the radeon patch 20020918 and the dri works very nice with an glxgears output of 1835FPS. Is the 20020923 patch a buggy version? how can I know it? there is a way to report it?=20 thanks for your time. best regards, --=20 Pere Casta=F1er Sard=E0 =20 Linux Registered user #232073 =20 Linux Debian GNU User-http://www.debian.org =20 Computer Science Engineering of Management student on UOC - http://www.uoc.edu ---------------------------------------------------------------------------= --| GnuPG Fingerprint: D3D1 ABD8 E63A 3E02 0B03 997E C07B 1C68 C80C D044 =20 http://www.gnupg.org =20 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------= --

I have a Nvidia Geforce4 Ti4200 64MB DDR and glxgear give me about 60FPS only at 1280x1024 virtual desktop through an Athlon 1700+. With the same resolution if I run the gears demo of Mesa then I have got about 216FPS. Are the ATI better than Nvidia card? Turk. |

Turk, I won't get into a "which vendor is better" discussion, but I will say glxgears is not a good performance benchmark. The frame rate of the application can be higher than the monitor refresh rate...unless buffers swaps are set to wait for the vertical refresh of your monitor. -- /\ Jens Owen / \/\ _ je...@tu... / \ \ \ Steamboat Springs, Colorado |

PD:I recently owned a Geforce2 MX 400 for the desktop and the closed nvidia drivers are really buggy. Today I will return the card, because: =09 I want dri on my debian Dri works better (in my opinion, based on my experience)=20 My radeon experience is highly positive. Dri is open source. I will change for a ati radeon...perhaps r200, although it don't works by now with dri, it's only question of time. best regards, --=20 Pere Casta=F1er Sard=E0 =20 Linux Registered user #232073 =20 Linux Debian GNU User-http://www.debian.org =20 Computer Science Engineering of Management student on UOC - http://www.uoc.edu ---------------------------------------------------------------------------= --| GnuPG Fingerprint: D3D1 ABD8 E63A 3E02 0B03 997E C07B 1C68 C80C D044 =20 http://www.gnupg.org =20 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------= --

I've just check snapshot radeon-20020924 and same situation. I can run programs except those which create new window. For example: xinit /usr/X11R6/bin/xeyes is fine, when: xinit /usr/X11R6/bin/xterm crashes X server with SIGSEGV. |
