It is right that games are normally played in fullscreen mode.
But it is often necessary to switch between window and fullscreen mode.
Especially as a gamer.
When playing online it is a good thing being able to switch back to window=
access your icq, irc, gamespy-client, ftp client and browser applications.
(for example to chat with your friends about the next game you want to pla=
y or mods/maps you have
to download before starting playing)
Doing this in the console is uncomfortable and in some cases (LICQ) imposs=
so a running x-server is still needed.
I don't know if it is possible to run an X-Server and FBDRI at the same ti=

rver with its inbuild DRI Architectur
like it is today.
