Would this be the correct place to post about problems that I'm
having with 3.9.16 on my VooDoo3 3000 PCI? To give a brief summary:
I'd been running Glide_V3-2.60 on my 3dfx (under RedHat 6.0) for about a
week when I decided to try the 3.9.16 server distributed by 3dfx.
I deinstalled Glide_V3-2.60 and installed Glide_V3-DRI, the tdfx module,
and the server. It worked perfectly. About a month later, I decided to
try a TNT2 card that had come into my possession. I pulled out the
VooDoo3, installed the TNT2, and tried the glx module and server from
nVidia. After determining that their 3d support was not as good as the
3dfx support, I uninstalled everything from nVidia, and reinstalled the
VooDoo card, as well as Glide, the 3dfx server, the module, etc.
Unfortunately, now the X server dies almost immediately after starting.
I even backed up all my personal info and did a fresh installed of
RedHat 6.1. The card works fine under 3.3.5 with Glide_V3-2.60, and
Windows 98. It also works fine under 3.9.16 on a different machine at
work (running RedHat 6.0, with some updates) :-)
I apologize if this is the wrong place to be posting this. If it is
the correct place, however, I can also send a copy of
/var/log/XFree86.0.log if someone would like to take a look. Thanks
for your time.
