I have an ATI Radeon Mobility 32 MB built into a
Laptop. I first installed the
radeon-20020609-linux.i386.tar.bz2
files through th install.sh script and everything worked
well. Later on I tried to install the ati.2 driver from Gatos.
Using this driver I got a distorted screen when opening
an application. I tried to upgrade dri with
radeon-20020727-linux.i386.tar.bz2.
After that my X totally freezed on me at startup.
I deleted the X11R6 directory, copied it from a backed up
file and reinstalled dri. The problem was still the same.
After using radeon-20020609-linux.i386.tar.bz2
everything was fine again. Quake3 runs smothly and no
bugs whatsoever.
I use Red Hat 7.3 (Valhalla) with gcc 2.9.6-110.
I attached my XFree86.0.log file.
I hope that helps tracking down the bug that appears to
be in newer cvs versions of dri.
