i got glxinfo to tell me 3d accel was working, now anytime i use an OpenGL app the system freezes immdiately, total lockup.. i have a VIA chipset

does opengl for G400 work yet in XFree86 4, or is still being worked out? i seen on the utah-glx site says its still being ported to 4

i also have a generic sblive!, a SB pci 512 (i seen an earlier posting about sblive & dri)

[drm] AGP 0.99 on VIA Apollo KT133 @ 0xd0000000 64MB
[drm] Initialized mga 3.0.2 20010321 on minor 0

Try reducing resolution and/or color depth (to 16 bpp)
until you get it working. #d stuff need 3-5 times more
memory than 2d. Report the memory of your card and the
resolution that you've tried. Read DRI docs on this subject.

Well X runs in 1024x768 16bpp, and the game (soldier of fortune) was running at 640x480 at 16bpp, its a 32m video card, and i have 256m of system memory.. tried on descent3 and did the same
And well i read the all the docs, and it sounds nice.. but its just not happening in my case

honestly, are these packages actually even updated every nite, or are files just copied over and renamed
cos if so, id like to stop freezing my box numerous times a day trying out "new" packages
is there a changelog somewhere thats not in that 17M monster file?

You can try the pre-compiled packages at
    http://dri.sourceforge.net/download.phtml

And yes - they are updated every night.

It think this is a duplicate of #522096.
It nice to see, that this bug is assigned to somebody, because
    the other is not :)
