When loading X with a DefaultDepth of 16 on my MGA G400MAX, they are corrupted, looking 'dithery' and strange. Going to 24-bit solves the problem, but prevents access to 3D acceleration :(

I'm using the latest CVS update + Linux Kernel 2.4.0test6, I'm using the DRI kernel module, not the one that comes with Linux.

Is this a FAQ?

The problem is only visible in 16 bit when DRI is enabled. Turning off the ILOAD CPU-to-screen color expansion doesn't fix the problem. Turning off all color expansion probably would, but I haven't tried it.

I can confirm this problem using MGA G400 DH-MAX, XFree86-4.0.1, and using a -test8 mga.o. I am also using the VIA agpgart.o module, which may have something to do with this problem (I've never heard of this from people using Intel chipsets). Currently I simply have to make sure agpgart.o is not loaded (so mga.o isn't loaded with modprobe) or X is very difficult to use; fonts appear to have only half their pixels drawn, etc.
