Windows 10 64 bit: I was able to make it work full screen (screen saver mode) by using DXWrapper: https://github.com/elishacloud/dxwrapper I moved Drempels.exe from C:\Windows to a separate directory as I read that putting the DXWrapper DLLs into any common PATH folders can cause serious problems. I copied ddraw.dll from the /stub/ directory along with dxwrapper.dll and dxwrapper.ini to the new Drempels Folder. The only necessary change to dxwrapper.ini is under [Compatibility] Dd7to9 = 1 Possibly...

I would chip in on this as well. Dremples is such a great and fun application.
Someone please start some kind of crowd funding to get this updated. If this had multiscreen support, Support for HD (preferrably 4K as well) ie larger/Higher res images, and Run as a standalone app vs an images directory,.. I'd pay $20.00 for a copy and so I could run it on my desktop and install on some Tinkerboards for digital picture frames.
Well, this is a bit of a late entry, but as of May 2021, dreples does not work on Windows 10 64bit, even in screensaver mode. It flashes on the screen, draws an image, then immediately closes. Is there a way past this, with current Windows version? Windows 10 [Version 6.3.19042] I tried abcxyz123's registry edit above, that did not make any difference.

Just wanted to comment that abcxyz123's solution works in Win 10 (thank you for that) however drempels is spelled wrong abobve it should be C:\Windows\drempels.exe Also when you modify the value to a 1 make sure you pick the base as Decimal. Thanks!
Window 8 and 10 Solution: Windows 8 and Windows 10 by default doesn't allow applications to use video overlay which therefore prevents drempels from running. When drempels "desktop mode" is launched the "either your video card does not support video overlays or your current driver doesn't" error is displayed. The Dremples Screen Saver working without any issue since it does not require the use of video overlays. As a work around in Windows 8 and Window 10you can enable video overlays on a per program...
Bro I got it to work on XP.... Jared Inside every old dog there is a puppy wondering...
This software was awesome back then and is still amazing and not out there today!...
