Hi everyone I have a machine that runs 2gb cfast cards and they're very hard to get a hold of I have one pair of them But i feel they are on their way out so i brought some 4gb ones not knowing that this machine will only read 2gb cards. So what im wanting to know is Can I some how clone one of the 2gb cards and write it to the 4gb cards and have it appear as a 2gb one ? I tried partitioning it and hiding the extra unallocated space but it is still detected as being 4gb any help would be great would using the dd method in Linux or clonezilla achieve this ? and if so could I please get some advice on how to get it done it would be greatly appreciated.
    thanks you

Since you have cloned it, you can use GParted live (https://gparted.org) to resize the partition.

Hi Steven i haven't cloned it yet im wondering if i do clone it and write it to the 4gb card will that make it appear as if it is actually a 2gb card as that's what im after So when i connect it to my machine instead of being detected as a 4gb flash card need it to be detected as a 2gb one . If this is possible how to i make it happen ? Thanks for your help

It detects as 2 GB flash card? mm.. In that case, it's Linux kernel issue, maybe.
How did you tell it's 2 GB flash card, not 4 GB one?

So if you use "-senc" instead of "-enc", i.e., do not encrypt the image, does this issue remain?

Sorry i think u may have miss understood me . I want the 4gb disk to appear as 2gb so the machine will let it boot so if i clone my 2gb disk and write it to the 4gb disk i need it to only be detected as a 2gb disk if u know what i mean ? And im wondering if its even possible and if so what do i need to do . Sorry im for any confusion but i appreciate your help

Well, if you use the beginner mode, and use all the default options (among them, use -k0, not -k1), and the cloned destination device will have a 2 GB partition in use, and the rest is unused.
