    Hi all

This is a clonezilla live question; hope it's the right place to ask

    Here ia my situation

I usually burn the image, taken with clonezilla live, to a DVD along with clonezilla live using automatic restore options. This is possible for images up to 8GB

I recently backed up a pc, and the image size is 10GB. Obviously I cannot follow the above procedure to create a restore DVD.

I was wondering if it is possible to split the image file to half, and create two automated restore DVDs.

    Is it possible?
Should I alter any of the filenames of the actual image files?
Are there any extra options available that could help me?

    Thanks in advance
    Spiros

      Sorry, the answer is no.
Since clonezilla now uses pipe and shell to find the files in the image directory when it starts clone. It won't wait for you to change the CD/DVD.
For the time being, maybe you can try to save the image in your samba server, ssh server or nfs server. Save the image to a local USB disk is also possible.

        This _is_ a pitty

IMHO, this feature would make clonezilla live the ultimate standalone backup/restore system...

Hope to see it implemented in the future, though

Well, if you mean you want to manually split that and backup them to DVD, yes, you can use any tool, e.g. zip or something similar, which provides the function to split the files into volumes.
However, for the time being, it's not possible to use the split images on DVDs when you are restoring. You have to copy all the files from DVDs to a dir so Clonezilla can read that.
