    Hello,

I use the latest version of clonezilla under Ubuntu 9.10
The PXE and drbl configuration has been set fine.
But during the saving hard disk image, the system get freeze after a while (at the same time).

Do you have any idea ?
    Many thanks !

Did you mean Clonezilla live or Clonezilla SE?
If it's Clonezilla live, please run:
      /opt/drbl/sbin/ocs-live-bug-report
If it's Clonezilla SE, please run:
      /opt/drbl/bin/drbl-bug-report
      then post the created file.
It's easier for others to help you.
      Thanks.

      Steven.

      Hello Steven,

      I use the Clonezilla SE.

And I would like to give a few details about freeze issue.
This one is noticed only on the client not on the server.
The client get freeze during the data transfert, please find hereunder the displayed informations :
      ...
      Saving NTFS to image ...
      Elapsed: 00:01:01, Remaining: 00:12:08, Completed:  7.72%, Rate: 475.00MB/min,

Strange behaviour, the unit always get freeze at the same time (+/- 3 seconds) -> memory link ?

Another information, I updated the initrd-pxe.2.6.28-15-generic.img (by adding of Atheros/Attansic AR81 serie driver).
This problem happens only with this driver (checked with another models).
      AR81 driver version : see    http://partner.atheros.com/Drivers.aspx    link.

According your request, here is data report from server :

Description of problem: client get freeze after a while

How reproducible: start client and wait...

      Steps to Reproduce:

      Actual results: data transfert incomplete

      Expected results: successfully  data transfert

Your GNU/Linux server is Ubuntu 9.10?
Actually we did not test DRBL on it completely. Not sure it's running well or not.
As for the freeze problem, maybe you'd better to do a memtest on your client machine, and make sure the hardware, including network and machine, is flawless.

      Steven.

No, I confirm that our server works under Ubuntu 9.04
      OS version: Ubuntu 9.04
      Server Kernel version: 2.6.28-15-generic

And no hardware issue for client (checked with 3 same units...)
Under native ubuntu 9.04 live no network or another hardware issue found.
This is the reason that I suspect a problem between Atheros/Attansic driver and drbl service.

      Best regards,

      Yann

PS : do you have a latest drbl Beta version ?

    Confused…
Did you mean now you run Ubuntu 9.10 as your Clonezilla SE server and you got this issue?
While when you were running Ubuntu 9.04 as Clonezilla SE, no such issue?

    Steven.

    Hello Steven,

    In clearer terms :
          - Ubuntu 9.04 + PXE + nfs + ubuntu 9.04 image (with driver update)  -> done, no problem found, client boot fine to ubuntu operating system
          - Ubuntu 9.04 + clonezilla (installion via ubuntu repository) + add drivers into initrd-pxe.2.6.28-15-generic.img file -> freeze issue during saving client's data

    Best regards,

    Yann

"add drivers into initrd-pxe.2.6.28-15-generic.img file" -> How did you add "Atheros/Attansic AR81 driver"?
Maybe the driver is not so compatible to your NIC?

    Steven.

Yes, I added the Atheros/Attansic AR81 driver into the image file.
But I don't think that's an incompatible NIC driver because It works fine when the ubuntu 9.04 image is loaded to client.

Do you want more information, I'm aware that is an issue not so easy  to solve ?

    Best regards,

    Yann

Not sure… Do you have different NIC?
Maybe try on different NIC so we can isolate the problem?

    Steven.
