Hello,
I have just finished my first install with DRBL, went very smoothly, excellent. We use Sun Grid Engine on our computers for job queuing can this be made to work with DRBL, has anyone tried it?
Thanks,
Philip

Thats a dead link, I would settle for Condor but I cannot figure out how to stop the all the nodes from being managers. Its a problem as all the nodes have the same filesystem as the server.

Basically, what we want is to have the queue manager to be the server that provides the file system to the nodes. The nodes would be execution clients to the queue manager. The problem I am having is that as the server essentially shares the same file system as the nodes it is difficult to install and configure both the nodes and the server to all work together.
Ideally I would like to use Sun Grid Engine as this is what the rest of the University uses. The only solution I can think of is having a separate machine as the queue manager but this isn't ideal.
Thanks for your help.

So now you are trying condor or Sun Grid engine ? Please tell us exactly what's the problem so that we can try it.
Thanks.

Although all the server and clients share the same file system, you still can install all the necessary files in the server, share them with clients, and *only* start the necessary services in the clients. They won't conflict.
BTW, I found we put a backup article here:
http://drbl.sourceforge.net/related_article/008_Build_A_Diskless_Cluster_Debian_DRBL_GridEngine/article_backup/
It has just become clear that the chap that posted that article works in the same University as me.
I will attempt to contact him and keep you posted with my progress.
Thanks,
Philip
