I believe that the new version of syslinux and syslinux-common that is in the drbl SF repos uses compression that is incompatible with the version of dpkg that is installed in Ubuntu 10.04. I am using the amd64 server edition, and I encountered this error today:

root@wilson:/home/shaun# apt-get install drbl

From what I have read, xz compression was not supported in dpkg 1.15.5.6ubuntu4.5 . Please let me know if you need any more information. My current production instance of DRBL is broken as a result of this. I am considering building DRBL from source or attempting to install a newer version of dpkg as a workaround. Thoughts?

Thanks for the bug report. This is fixed in the unstable release. However, due to another issue, DRBL is still not working on Ubuntu 10.04. Will do our best to fix that.

This issue should be fixed in the stable release. Please try it again and if any problem, please let us know. Thanks.

The drbl stable package installed this morning without incident. I haven't yet done an imaging test run, but everything appears to be working. Thank you for this excellent software and the quick response!
