Today, we would like to share some of the future plans for Drauger OS, as well as some of the behind the scenes work going on.
Firstly, we are beginning work to bring out-of-the-box support for Ray-Tracing rendering to Drauger OS in future releases. We are currently in the research stage, but this is something we are greatly looking forward to seeing, in order to provide greater support for the new Nvidia RTX graphics cards. As of right now, there is no set time line for when this will be implemented, but expect it by the 8.0.x release at the latest. ... read more

Well. This has been an active week.
Hey guys. So this week, Drauger OS has had a new record high. This week, we had the highest number of downloads in one day of all time: 332 downloads!!! This is insane! Seeing the number of downloads of Drauger OS spike like this was great. There have also been two different videos about Drauger OS posted on YouTube (Granted, one was a little, per se, critical? But any feedback is good feedback!)... read more
Hey guys,
So, if you follow our Facebook and/or Twitter (which you an follow at here and here respectively), you already know that as of September 12th, Drauger OS is FINALLY on the wait list for DistroWatch.
Now, when I got the news that Drauger OS had been added, I thought "Okay. This may boost us a little bit. Help get the word out a little." Well. That ended up being an understatement.... read more
One week ago today, Drauger OS 7.3.7 was released, replacing Drauger OS 7.3.6 and taking another step toward the release of Drauger OS 7.4.1. Even though 7.3.7 has only been released for a week, we have already had our second largest day for downloads of Drauger OS of all time and we have already begun work for the 7.4.1 release.
At this time no official date has been set for the 7.4.1 release, although a name has already been picked (Even though we aren't going to announce it just yet. ;-)). But, as we work toward this new release continues, we would like to invite everyone to leave a comment about how they found Drauger OS and how they are liking it so far (You need an account with SourceForge in order to comment. An account is free to make and use.)... read more
Good Evening Everyone,
Just a few short minutes ago, Drauger OS v7.3.7 was uploaded to the files tab here on our SourceForge page. This new version is 500 MB smaller than the old v7.3.6 release, but at the same time packs a bigger punch!
Drauger OS 7.3.7 also comes with improved Mesa and Vulkan support. This objectivly improves gaming the experience for both native Linux games, VR games and other VR apps, as well as Windows games ran through WINE, DXVK, or Steam. This improved support also lays the ground work for some new changes coming in Drauger OS 7.4.1, so stay tunned!... read more
Good Afternoon Everyone!
In the next couple of weeks, multiple updates are going to be coming out. Among these are the Open Arena Bug Fix, as well as the addition of the Drauger Store: an app store for specificly games and emulators which makes it easier to have the best gaming experience possible.
First and formost of these updates is the OpenArena Bug Fix.
This update is approximately 80% done. We are just having problems getting the installer to work properly. This may cause a delay in the release of this update. Please be patient with us as we work out the bugs in this release to ensure it properly fixes OpenArena. Please not that you will have the option to install OpenArena through this update if you wish, it is not mandatory. This way, if you do not wish OpenArena to be on your system, it doesn't have to be.... read more
Good Evening Everyone!
We have some good news! We finally figured out how to fix OpenArena! In the next few days or so, an update will be rolling out over sudo update-os -u to fix this issue.
It turns out, this bug was something the upstream maintainers neglected to fix in the downstream versions. Thus, the version from their website works perfectly fine!
Keep an eye out for that update!
Sincerely,
Thomas Castleman
Lead Dev
Good Evening everyone,
In the last blog post, I mentioned that Drauger OS v7.2.7 will no longer be availble soon, due to the lack of built in update utility tied back to the Drauger OS devs.
With this unfortunate news, we would like to formally declare that Drauger OS v7.2.7 will officially reach End-Of-Life (EOL) on Saturday, September 1st.
Thank you to everyone who participated in the it's beta tests. We look forward to working with you again on Drauger OS 7.4.1 Beta 1.... read more
That's right folks, in the next few weeks, Drauger OS will no longer ship with emulators pre-installed. Understandably, many of you may be upset about this. So, why will Drauger OS no longer come with emulators?
In the past couple of weeks, Nintendo has been suing sites which distribute ROMs meant to be run on emulators. Effectivley, this has been forcing such sites to shut down. So, how does this affect Drauger OS?... read more
Good Afternoon Everyone!
I understand that there have been no updates for Drauger OS coming out from us here in development, specifically through the update-os channel. I am here to provide an explaination and aleviate any fears that Drauger OS is dead, beacuse I assure you it is not.
First: Our main dev is currently in a place with terrible internet access and will be for 2 more weeks. Thus, we cannot release any new OS builds right now to SourceForge.... read more
Boys and Girls, ladies and gentlemen, children of all ages, may I present you you : Drauger OS V7.3.6 Revenant has finally entered the stable release phase!!!
With this new release, all the bug fixes that were released over update through sudo update-os -u are now built in and properly administered by default. Also, it has a new welcome screen to get you started with everything from finding solutions to your problem, to reporting bugs, to getting some of your drivers set up at start up!... read more
So the bug fixes have been released. All but the recently announced OpenArena bug have been patched. The only reason OpenArena hasn't been fixed is because that is an issue with their developers, not ours. However, we will be attempting to work with them to get OpenArena working.
For now, our next big fix to work on will be Stability.
I recently was in contact with Joe Collins from the Ezee Linux foundation, asking him for some feedback on Drauger OS (Thank you, Joe, for your feed back). He told me he was seeing stability issues and was seeing Drauger OS crash. I am going to be working out what is going on in that department over the next few releases and seeing if there is a way I can fix it, for not just him but for everyone else who are having stability issues.... read more
First, off, I promise you guys we test this thing before pushing it out. Just maybe not enough. XD
Secondly, we would like to appologize for the oversight of the glaring bugs of OpenArena crashing when trying to launch a game, the terribly designed tutorial, and the shoddy update function when running sudo update-os -u.
To remedy all of these, we are going to push out a series of updates. These, we promise, will be much better designed.... read more
Good Evening Everyone,
Recently, I was testing an older version of Drauger (Version 7.3.6 Beta 2) on a 2-in-1 Laptop. Specifically, a Dell Inspiron 11 from the 3000 series, made back in 2014.
Now, I would like to point out that the README file does warn not to run Drauger on a laptop due to potential cooling issues, as well as a known drop in battery life. This being said it would not surprise me if one of you out there where running Drauger OS on a laptop, despite these warnings. However, I cannot know for sure as I have received no bug reports from anyone, let alone ones for laptop-specific or laptop-related issues. ... read more
So in the past day or so, A lot of changes have been made in the infastructure and support channels.
First and foremost, with another update released, the way updates-down.txt, the file downloaded to check and install updates, has a new standardized lay out to make making new ones in the future easier and to allow for installation of older updates that have not yet been installed.
Also, a new update has been released that adds a PlayStation 1 emulator to Drauger. Furthermore, a some files where added that the user may use to make performance better as well as make setup easier. Finally, with this update a bug fix has been sent out to fix a false error poping up when booting up.... read more
Good Afternoon, everyone!
A few short hours ago, an update was released to those of you running Drauger OS V7.3.6 beta 2. This update adds a new daemon for xboxdrv, the application providing support for Xbox 360 controllers, as well as some Xbox One and PS3 controllers.
This update will also run for those of you on Version 7.2.7. Simply download the master zip from the Github repository used to store the Drauger OS updates, here, and move the following files to the designated folder:... read more
You read that right folks. Drauger OS Version 7.3.6 Beta 2 codename Revenant, is already here! Prepare for a whole new look, bug fixes, and a few new features.
So, if you want to get in on the excitment, just to see what I'm talking about, without having to download that huge file (Believe me, we know how big and inconvenient it is. We are working to slowly get it smaller, we promise!), go to our ChangeLog on Google Docs here. We will be working to keep this up-to-date with each new release.... read more
Well we fixed the problem with V7.3.2. Turned out the tool we use to make the ISO image wasn't working correctly. So, we had to replace casper with live-boot in Drauger OS. From now on, every Drauger release will be using live-boot instead of casper. If you have issues making live USBs on Drauger from V7.3.6 Beta 1 on, please replace live-boot with casper and it should work again. If not, please go to our Google Forms support page and please let us know.... read more
Welp. Looks like we had a screw up
If you guys haven't seen yet, Version 7.3.2 Beta 1 has an issue when booting, claiming
/cow format specified as aufs and no support found
and dropping the user into an initramfs shell.
As of right now, we know that it is not an issue with this specific liquorix kernel version, 4.16.0-8.1, as it also is affecting version 4.16.0-7.1. We will be testing a 4.15 kernel soon so please bear with us. If this is not the culprit, possiblities include plymouth(however this is unlikely) and the liquorix kernel itself. Both will be investigated if need be. ... read more
