Use the httpinst command in DQSD to update your alm search from the latest revision: httpinst /up alm Let me know if there are any problems. I changed the args to match the site's new search options. I guess the AllMusic site changed and nobody has taken the time to adapt the search... I quickly checked allmusic.com, and the search form looks simple, so it shouldn't take much work. Let me see if I can get this fixed. I wish I could offer a new release soon, but I've run into some problems with the tools we use to build DQSD, so I can't say when. I'll post a link to a new search if I manage to get it working. - Kim |

Years ago, the ALLMUSIC search (alm) did stop to work for me (changes on their site?). It didn't help to update to 4.1beta. alm.xml is still dated to 30.08.2002. I'm on XP Sp3 with FF Any hints? Hi MLL, Long time no see! Same happens in compatibility mode. > And it happens on Win 7 32 bits as well as 64 bits. Hmm... I'm trying to understand what might go wrong. Here's the check from the wizard's installer: IfFileExists $INSTDIR\search.htm Installed SetAutoClose true MessageBox MB_OK|MB_ICONEXCLAMATION "Unable to find installation of Dave's Quick Search Deskbar.$\n$\nPlease install the latest version of Dave's Quick Search Deskbar." Quit Installed: ... do installation here... IfFileExists checks if the file is on disk, and if so, sets the Installed flag. Otherwise it drops down to the body of the check, which shows a message and aborts. A little backward... This forum discussion: http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?t=340698 hints that Windows 7 filesystem redirection might cause trouble, but I'm not sure what the workaround is. It's hard to tell without knowing the value of $INSTDIR. Do you get to choose an install directory when you start the installer? I can't seem to build the wizard, I don't think I have the right build tools installed anymore, so it's hard for me to debug. - Kim |

Hello folks, I still use DQSD on a hourly (or maybe even minutely !) basis – how’s that for a n about 10 years old utility ? :) Now, I wanted to make a new search using Glenn’s Wizard <http://dqsd.net/searchwizard.htm> for the first time since I switched to Windows 7 / IE 9. Problem is that upon installing dqsdwiz1.3.exe, it says that DQSD is not installed, and then aborts installation. Same happens in compatibility mode. And it happens on Win 7 32 bits as well as 64 bits. Has anyone a clue ? Cheers, MLL |

If I recall correctly, these are the steps; 1) Download the 64-bit release zip 2) Unpack it to some temporary location 3) Run setupx64.cmd as administrator The bits should be copied into your 64-bit Program Files, and everything should be registered. Hope that helps, - Kim |

I was surprised to stumble across this. I must have missed the email to the user's distro list. "DQSD 4.1.0.0 is finally released (it has been in beta for three years, and no significant changes have been made). This version adds native x64 support, and now incorporates over 400 different search engines. This is not a security update. http://sourceforge.net/projects/dqsd/files/dqsd/4.1.0.0/" "This version adds native x64 support", when I check the Sourceforge site it states the release incorporates "Win64" support. 1) Does that support include x64 versions of XP, Vista and Windows 7? 2) If I instruct people to download the installation executable (the EXE file not the ZIP). Will it install and run on all 3 flavors of 64-bit Windows with no further assistance? Please advise, Muad Dib aka: Jim |

Let me butt in just to say thank you, Kim! Works fine for me, so I'm OK to remove the beta tag. Hello, I managed to build everything yesterday, but didn't have time to go through the entire release procedure. I'll try to get to that as soon as possible. Our latest release looks like it's 4.1.0.0 beta, do you think I should just remove the beta decoration and release it as 4.1.0.0? Hi guys, I seem to remember trying, earlier, but I didn't have the right Visual Studio version. I can always build with VS2008 this time, and see how it goes. However, I'm going on a trip from Sunday and a week onwards, so I won't be able to tinker with it until after. In general, a lot of searches have been updated since the last version. Maybe it's time to compile a new one ? Win7 Ultimate, and my transparency is fine... I tried sub'ing in all your files and got (1). Why the color is different I can't tell. I compared both directories and didn't find any difference that could account for it. I reapplied my customizations and got (2). I'm going to go with it - it's an improvement anyway. Hi Michael: I'm running 64-bit Win7. What I did was copy the entire Quick Search Deskbar folder and zipped it up as is. What I typically do is install a fresh copy of DQSD and then copy all of these files atop those original files...obviously, some might not copy if the .dll is loaded, etc....so I just skip those files and continue as they are the same. Blamo, once I reload DQSD (or reboot), my theme is there w/ transparency. After, I just right-click on the "Quick Search" text and disable the Toolbar Title and resize the search area. Obviously, please backup your localaliases.txt & custom searches folder...the rest I'd overwrite complete with the attached zip contents and see if it works better. Even if you're running 32-bit, you should be able to copy the contents over...you might just have a few superfluous 64-bit .dlls in there...but that's not a big deal. -Matt -----Original Message----- From: Michael Kairys [mailto:ka...@co...] Sent: Thursday, October 07, 2010 2:31 PM To: dqs...@li... Weird. My Win7 (32/64bit) theme and yours look different. Notice, mine has the little magnifying glass and the font size is different? My chevrons ">>" are on the right side...yours on the left. My guess is you have some sort of hybrid .css action going on. The good news is that the color black seems to still have a transparent property with DQSD, so perhaps if you completely wipe out the theme and re-apply mine, you might still make out ok. -Matt -----Original Message----- From: Michael Kairys [mailto:ka...@co...] Sent: Thursday, October 07, 2010 2:31 PM To: dqs...@li... Subject: Re: [DQSD-Users] Bar color, again Yes Matt, I am using your theme.css (and grateful for it! :) I first tried globally substituting transp.gif for 7toolbar1.bmp and got a partial result, see attached. By further experimentation I determined: 1. The reason the effect was partial is body did not have a background specified; when I added it I got the whole thing 2. Whether I used 7toolbar1.bmp or transp.gif didn't seem to make a difference 3. The relevant changes were to body and .txtfld, .clock, and moving those to localsearch.css achieved the same effect. I have never seen actual transparency... > -----Original Message----- > From: Admin-VYSA [mailto:ad...@vy...] > Sent: Thursday, October 07, 2010 2:19 PM > To: ka...@co...; 'DQSD users mailing list' > Subject: RE: [DQSD-Users] Bar color, again > > Are you not using the THEME.CSS (See attached), which develops the > transparency of the bar?
