Hi there, I just completed the release of DQSD 4.1.1, and thought I'd send out a brief e-mail to the announce list soon. But I wanted to tell you guys what I've done in more detail: - Semi-automated release procedure for DQSD; I now have a set of batch files I use to build and publish releases to SourceForge, but I still run manual tests of 32-bit installer in between, so it's not entirely unattended - Updated some of the references to www.dqsd.net -> dqsd.sourceforge.net, including version check. This means auto-updating should work again as soon as people install 4.1.1 manually. - Minimal changes to doc.htm -- - now talks in terms of Latest stable/Latest beta and keeps both links at the top of the page. The latest beta link is outdated at this point, so not sure if this is a great idea. - removed all direct references to dqsd.exe, and point them all to SourceForge's file area instead This means I can now release a new DQSD version in about 20 minutes, as opposed to the hours of manual futzing around I had to do earlier. This, in turn, means that whenever you feel we have something we should get out the door -- ping me, and I'll push the button. All that's missing now is to redirect the DNS settings for dqsd.net -> dqsd.sourceforge.net, and then all old versions will start auto-updating as well. Cheers, - Kim |

Thanks Kim, but what's not clear to me is : what should I do if I have a 64 bits OS : get dqsdx64-4110.zip <http://sourceforge.net/projects/dqsd/files/dqsd/4.1.1.0/dqsdx64-4110.zip/download> ? Why is it not an exe with an installer ? Cheers. I'm not really a developer, but I did have a hand in the creation of the 64-bit installation script. It's basically a batch file installer, or was initially. Not sure how it's morphed since then, but I believe they kept the same basic batch file. If so, you need to unzip to a temporary directory on C: and run the install/setup/whatever we called it.bat. ;) (The problem is that our installer of the period didn't support 64-bit, so we had to do it the hard way.) You're right Charlie : there's a cmd file that installs DQSD. Far from easy for a casual PC user, but it works. Thank you. Thanks Charlie. You're right, I didn't notice the batch file installer. It does work, although I didn't see anywhere (a readme, the website...) any instructions on how to set the 64 bit version up. Hmmm. I'll have to look at the current version. We had a _really minimal_ readme with the one I originally worked on, which was done for XP x64. But basically, as I recall, it said "unzip this to a temporary directory on C: and run it. Should also say to run it from an elevated prompt in Vista/Win7. It will then put the files where they need to be, and modify the registry. Then it's the same as with 32-bit, you add the toolbar by right clicking on the taskbar.
