Probe is being created by Darkkiller10k from Digital Planet.
He is currently the only person working on Probe.
Darkkiller10k started Probe as a hobby to help him learn python. He used to the problems he found in his code as a working point to improve. The first official release of Probe was V 0.5 which was very basic. He then upgraded to V 0.9 which was a large overhaul of Probe. During the time between V 0.5 and V0.9 where just mainly bug fixes and slight tweaks to the game. After V 0.9 there came V 1.0, The main game which is what the latest version looks like most. V 1.1 was not a big update. In it there was some extra functions to make way for the next update.
In Probe V 0.5 Darkkiller10K considered it a demo:
This is a quote from the code
0.5-This was a DEMO with only basic features, No colour, nothing... just the basic backbone of the game. This phase lasted for about a week before the next update
In V 0.5 all there was was a screen with 5 grey balls and a basic launch system. Darkkiller10k used this to implement test features into the game.
In between V 0.5 and V 0.9 there was no major work being done on the game. Just simple bug checks and spelling errors. This phase lasted for about two weeks before the next update
In V 0.9 Darkkiller10k added a new title screen. He did not like this title screen but was unable to change it due to his ability level with python. He also had completed his bug checking
Quote from code
0.9-Code sorted and (kinda)debugged to the best of my ability. Changed start screen
This phase lasted for about a week and a half before the next update.
This was the main game that was what Darkkiller10k referred to as "Playable".
Quote from Darkkiller10k when asked about V 1.0 Release
Well this is the first playable game but I am not uploading it yet.
When asked why he wouldn't upload it he replied
Its not ready for the public yet. Ill give it some time. Maybe the next update I will upload it.
In V 1.0 there was colour for planets and the launch system had been upgraded. He tried to add a random number of planets generator instead of allways generating five planets but this failed. This phase lasted for about two weeks before the next update.
In V 1.1 Darkkiller10k never seemed to have done much. After looking at the code, this is what he done:
He added the code to start a music function but music was not added in this phase. He also tried to add a fullscreen function but failed.
He sent this out as a update along with some bug fixes.
This phase lasted a week.
This is the latest phase. In this phase music was added in the background via a very simple code. Darkkiller10 said he wanted to add more music functionality and said to expect more in the V 1.3 release. This was also Darkkiller10ks first version he uploaded. He uploaded V 1.2.1 a few days later.
Darkkiller10k referred to this as a minor update that included a very large thing: every time the game was ran, a random number would be created between 3 and 15. For the rest of the time that game window was open the number of planets created would be that randomly generated number.
Darkkiller10k referring to update V 1.2.1
This mini phase is very small but contains a very important aspect to the game, Random number of planets will be generated every time the game is run.
I will probably refine this later but for now I think it will do
I think this will be the last update until V 1.3
