Release Notes
-------------

Jabber account creation was improved to deal with some quirks in
popular servers.  Adding new buddies in the roster has been completely
overhauled and now is much more robust.  Many bugs regarding role
changes where fixed.  The number of character you and your remote peer
typed is now collected as a per session statistic.  We continue to
work on making the initial synchronisation better and faster.  Improved
communication to the Jabber server by reducing the messages sent per
second drastically.  Saros supports Eclipse 3.5 and 3.4 now.

Known issues:  No progress of role change is shown to the host.  There
is still no reliable server independent way for Saros to find out
whether a contact exists on the server.  No progress is shown for the
invited peer when receiving the archive.  Workaround: Check network
traffic in the OS.  Cancelling the sync might not stop the current
file transfer to be interrupted. Workaround: Disconnect from Jabber
server. Various race condition in sync.  Workaround: Try again :-(

The Saros Team is proud to announce the release of our third beta 
version 9.6.23.
In the last three weeks Saros has improved most notably with regards to

  * ...supporting the use of the same Jabber-ID for Saros and a normal 
instant
messaging client.
  * ...only sharing parts of a project.
  * ...various problems in the synchronisation and invitation process.
  * ...the collection of anonymous usage statistics for our research 
project.
  * ...the heuristic for staying in follow mode when drivers change.

[Dpp-announce] Saros 9.5.29 released

Saros 9.5.29 is the first release after our beta-release 9.5.8 and is
packed with bug-fixes. In particular we have improved the consistency
recovery and improved support while debugging an application.

On the feature side, Saros now has much better dialogs for initial
configuration of Jabber accounts and servers, which are shown at first
start and offers the possibility to skip the synchronisation (needs to
be enabled in the preferences).

This release is also the first with which we want to gather some
scientific data about distributed pair programming (this is a research
project after all). To this end Saros will ask you after every fifth
session (configurable, of course) whether you want to participate in a
short survey.

[FEEDBACK] Activated our first survey targetting fast user feedback.

[FEATURE] Improved GUI of the ConfigurationWizard, added links to the

about the statistic submission (link to Wiki-Website)
[FEATURE] Added a feedback system that asks the user to participate in
an online survey. The interval in which the feedback reminder is shown
is customizable or can be disabled completely in the Preferences
[FEATURE] A wizard to configure Saros settings is shown when the plugin
is installed or updated and some user preferences are missing.
[FEATURE] Manually connecting from the Roster View is now always
possible. If configuration details for Jabber are missing a wizard is
