The listed servers in this sections are far from being reliably. If it is not possible to establish Socks5 connections then the listed servers should not be used. In fact an IBB connection will be established but this connections can has very high latency and very small bandwidth available (typically only 4 kB/s) which can result in a very laggy session depending on what you are doing.

My solution would be to remove all Server which have known issues.

Since the side is named "Setup Own XMPP Server" we shouldn't focus so much on giving public server list of XMPP server anyway. At least not on this page.

Btw. talk.google.com is outdated and should refer to http://www.google.com/hangouts/.

    jabber.org isn't reliable?

Have you tests using hangouts? As far as I know, Google shut down XMPP support for their products at some point.

Is this a serious question ? Google Hangouts does not use the XMPP protocol.

Google will drop XMPP support, we just don't know when it happens. For now it still works.Kind of. I never made an account on google talk and I can connect with my gmail and see all my friends from google+ in Saros, through I don't know if the chat is still working. I haven't tested this yet.

    What I meant was:
If mention google at all, we should at least change "talk.google.com" to hangouts. My personal opinion is that we should get rid of all google XMPP stuff we currently have in saors and on the homepage, ass we can not guarantee that google/XMPP will work.

I agree: when I as a new Saros user tried finding out how to use my google account as Saros XMPP account, the search only turned up obscure sites about how it does not really work anymore. This was pretty confusing and will stop working at some point completely.

So I would delete the google stuff from our homepage and close this ticket and related #127 if no one disagree with that.

Yes just delete the Google stuff. If there are questions about Hangout in the future we can still add this to the FAQ.

BTW. can you please alter the Configuration Wizard ? There is a note about Google I think this can removed as well as it will be soon outdated.

I deleted google entries on https://www.saros-project.org/setupXMPP and changed the FAQ area about google accounts. And yes we mention google one time in the UI on the create account screen. I will make a tiny patch tomorrow that will fix that.
