The "clock" icon that appears when a session participant does not have the eclipse window in the foreground is easily misinterpreted.
The clock icon is usually used to indicate "waiting for user to do something / user is busy".

My Suggestion: gray user icon instead of colored icon to indicate: user is not actively participating.
