I am finding that port authority is causing the help viewer to crash, not in particular for itself but system-wide---if I try to open the help window from the Finder, it immediately closes itself down. The console reveals the following error message: 2005-08-10 00:40:53.236 Help Viewer[751] -[IdxSearchController openIndices:] caught a VTWIN exception. Bad index file is /Applications/Port Authority/Port Authority.app/Contents/Resources/dpdoc/dpdoc idx I have tried rebuilding the index using Apples Help Indexer (this worked for another application), and I have tried to move various files outside the dpdoc directory that didn't seem to be directly related to the help functions, figuring they might be causing the indexing to mess up. (I put them back in after the indexing is done.) However, there is so much stuff there I am not sure what's what; I suspect there is simply one or two files in there, and possibly whole folders, that shouldn't be there, but I don't know. Any suggestions or fixes? (I am running latest version of Tiger, by the way.) Thanks, Nick Chubrich. |
