Peter,

The error message "can't find package darwinports" means that DP wasn't
installed correctly. DP places some bits in /Library/Tcl. Can you look
in that directory to see if there's a DarwinPorts folder there?

I'm going to do some testing and see if this is a bug in PortBase with
the installation process. If so I'll post a fix.
