-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Try using the binary installer for DarwinPorts at http://darwinports.opendarwin.org. I've noticed a few problems with how PortBase handles the installation process, but I have not investigated more closely because I'm phasing out the installation part in the next release. The binary installer is the way to go. Once you run that, PortView should work. Either I'm the biggest idiot in the entire world, or I just missed something. What am I supposed to open in PortView File>Source to allow me to work with what I installed with PortBase? Thanks in advance! JKU --- Download vCard |

-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 darwinports1.0 should be in /Library/Tcl. DP wasn't installed properly. I'm not sure what to tell you at this point, as I've run out of ideas and can't reproduce your problem beyond what I've done here. There is a binary installer for DP 1.0 at http://darwinports.opendarwin.org. Perhaps that would be easier. If you can't get the installation to work with that or by following the instructions for the command-line install (also at the DP site), then I'd ask for help on the DP mailing list. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 A quick test shows that if the wrong password is input, the installation will silently exit without much of an error message beyond what is mentioned in the dialog: "will exit without further output." This is a known limitation and I cannot work around it at this time. If you input your password correctly, PortBase will run "sudo make install" and a popup window will say "DP installation complete." In other words, DP isn't being installed correctly. Hi Kevin and Gary
I've installed the tcltkaqua install - new version of the batteries
included version, and used netinfo manager to check/change my root
password, but it's still the same result in PortBase: password is
seemingly accepted, installation complete window pops up [very
quickly], but the terminal message is still:
Macintosh:/opt/local/bin peter$ /opt/local/bin/port list
can't find package darwinports
while executing
"package require darwinports"
(file "/opt/local/bin/port" line 31)
Regards
Peter

Hello, everyone. I just downloaded the DPGUI last night. It looks nice, should provide a much-needed interface similar to Fink commander. However, I am not able to see any packages listed in PortView. I go to "Overview" in the menu bar and click "View all ports". The dialog window then says, "displaying all available ports" at the bottom. But nothing appears in either window in the GUI. Any ideas why? I'm running 10.3.9. I already had DarwinPorts installed from the official website, but I went ahead and ran PortBase anyway. That means I now have two versions of DarwinPorts on my computer. Could that have something to do with this? Thanks for your help. |

Hi, first time user :-). I have DPGUI 0.3, running on 10.3.9 on an eMac 1.25 with 1 Gb RAM. I have successfully run lots of X11 programs for 12 months via XDarwin and more recently X11 itself. Fink and some installed via command line. I have now run and installed PortBase. Seemed to work, similar screen results to a successful Fink Installation. I have run PortView, but nothing appears in the windows, no matter what commands I use. I had tried to install Darwin Ports from the command line previously, and did so, but couldn't seem to get the programs running, probably because I wasn't getting the path right. What am I doing wrong, and will I need to set up a path for DP? Peter |
