Sorry, I should have replied to the list when I answered Harald. The cause
for the error was that he did not have the dpclSD service configured
properly in his /etc/inetd.conf file (AIX uses inetd while Linux uses
xinetd).
Thanks for looking at this.

Harold,
This is what we have in our documentation about this error.
Hope this points you in the right direction. Our usage and documentation
is
aimed more at Linux, so beware of that.
Thanks,

ASC_daisd_cant_sock
This error message firmly indicates that the network has connectivity
issues, most likely that the '/etc/services' file is improperly configured
and the DPCL SuperDaemon service is not functional. Also, DPCL uses the
Linux 'ruserok' security mechanism and if the call to 'ruserok' fails,
then this error might appear. It would indicate a problem with the user's
'.rhosts' file or the '/etc/hosts.equiv' file. See the *man page for
'ruserok'. documented in the man page.

Hello,
I'm working with DPCL on a Pwr5 machine with DPCL 3.4.2 and AIX 5.2. I'm
getting ASC_daisd_cant_sock error as a result of a bcreate call.
On the DPCL Class reference ASC_daisd_cant_sock is interpreted like "a
unix
connect() call failed". Does anyone how to solve this, or how can I get
more
information about this error?
Regards,
