Using DocBook XML for the internal format is too restrictive IMHO, but I'll try to use the DocBook syntax whenever it makes sense, so that generating DocBook XML should be easy. One of the ideas is that the internal format will include more information than needed for any of the output formats. Each output generator can select the appropriate information.
