"gcc version egcs-2.91.66 19990314 (egcs-1.1.2 release)" still fails in
the same way, but with "gcc version 2.95.3 20010315 (release) (NetBSD
nb3)" it works. All this is for i386 by the way. I'll see if I can try
another architecture too (Alpha).
