[Doxygen-users] using SVG figures in latex

Hi everyone.

We are currently using SVG figures, typically drawn in Inkscape, in our 
markdown-written doxygen-generated documentation. For example:
![Foo bar](@ref figures/something.svg)
@image latex figures/something.pdf "Foo bar"

However, it would be awesome if we could get away with creating only 
something.svg manually and not having to create the something.pdf file 
in a separate step. We figured we'd get away with running a script that 
would generate the PDF files, but doxygen doesn't insert an 
\includegraphics command for SVG files.

For the same reason, we can't simply reprogram the LaTeX command 
\includegraphics{..} to call the \includesvg{..} command, which resides 
in a separate package.

What would an optimal solution be? We would be willing to run a figure 
generation (bash/python/similar) script when building, but, as stated, 
would prefer not having to create duplicate figure files.
