besides the ability to find mirrors you should take
into account makeing it a multi-threaded download manager.
the only download managers i've been able to find, for
linux, with that ability are axel and prozilla, but
they're lacking at the gui part.
If you mean opening more than one connection for the same
file, so that you (posibly) get more bandwidth, it is
planned. The support is already in. I just need to come up
with handling it in the GUI.

feature was added. I certainly would use the ability to
download a single file from multiple sources or even 2
threads from a single source on a daily basis.
