Looking at the long list of feature requests here, something just occured to me:
Why not make a general "create your own" type thing, where the DoubleCommand preferences first asks you to type the key you want to modify, then asks you to type the key or key sequence you would like it to create when you press that key.
Also include the possibility for the key to simply be ignored. It seems there's nearly zero chance of the insert key ever doing what I want in MacOS, so it'd be nice if I could at least make it so that nothing bizzare happens when I accidentally try to use it.

I would settle for something simpler - key remapping on the physical level. Just a graphical tool where you could point out what keys do you want to behave as what other keys.
