No Double Command after Mac Restart

My DoubleCommand setting are inoperable after I restart my MacBook from sleep status. How can I restart DoubleCommand? Simply going to he DoubleCommand pane in the System Preferences area and clicking "activate" does nothing. (To return from sleep status I must reenter my password.) Thank you.
