Not sure what's going on, but this is what happened during my install.  Happens repeatedly on reinstalls, even if /Library/StartupItems and /Library/PreferencePanes are removed.

    From the syslog:

5/20/08 6:04:32 PM Installer[385] The following install step failed: run postflight script for DoubleCommand. Contact the software manufacturer for assistance.

5/20/08 6:34:15 PM com.apple.SystemStarter[17] DoubleCommand will not load due to a problem last load

Do a spotlight search for: DoubleCommand.crashed then delete that file. Once deleted, the installation should work just fine.

I've removed everything.  And there is not *.crashed file.

I'm still getting this same error.  Any thoughts?

It's possible spotlight wasn't able to locate the file.

Double check in:  /Library/StartupItems/DoubleCommand/  and make sure DoubleCommand.crashed isn't in there.

I have the same problem. I've deleted everything on my computer relating to DoubleCommand, tried to reinstall and keep getting the same error message. Like Link, there was no *.crashed file. I had the program successfully installed for about two weeks and then it just stopped working and that's why I keep trying to reinstall it.

I have exactly the same problem as Linsay. DoubleCommand stopped working and since I use it to remap may right enter key on my MBP I really miss it;(

:) I found the solution in the same thread as Link:)

"Well looking around I found the solution, there was a DoubleCommand.crashed in /private/var/tmp/DoubleCommand.crashed"

      Thanks!

where do I find the "private" folder or subfolder? I still am unable to find the DC.crashed file, but I am sure it is out there. I have the exact same symptoms.

Use go to folder (shift command G) and type in the folder path.

None of the above is working for me. No matter what method I try, I can't find anything by the name of DoubleCommand.crashed.

I suppose the only thing left is to format the damn thing. Or is there anyone with another idea?

      Thanks

      Emile
