[Dotlucene-developer] dotlucene or lucene??

Our company's development environment is C#/.NET and we are planning to add search functionality to our product. The issue is whether to use dotlucene or lucene (the Java version). The problem with lucene could be inter-operability issues between C# and Java and perhaps, a slowdown in performance 'coz of calls between CLR and JVM.
 
Is the current version of dotlucne in sync with the current version of lucene?
How active is the dotlucene project (compared to lucene) and how many customers/sites are currently using dotlucene?
Are the bug fixes in lucene ported to dotlucene (if applicable)?
Is the performance of dotlucene on par with lucene?
