Version 0.93 of Do the Work is released. This version is not backward compatible because it adds sound support, and thus requires the installation of an additional program, pygame in order to get that sound support. This is free and links are provided in the documentation, on the website, and in the README. Each default question has five different variations, and whenever it is asked one of these variations is selected pseudo randomly and played through the computer sound system. The sound can be turned off in the Configuration menu, but at this time there is no way to select a single voice or change the voices. The documentation has instructions for how to change the voices manually if you don’t like them, or change the questions, or use a different language. Pygame is required even if you do not use sound, so if you do not want sound and don’t want to install pygame, use the 0.92 version. http://www.pygame.org/ |

This release is all about the handling of languages other than English in Do the Work. Bug fix release to correct an oversight in the language handling logic. The User Response interface was using the original English questions, even when another language was the default. When a new question was set for a language other than English, it wasn't becoming the default. This is now fixed. However, it brings with it a slight visual problem. If a question is changed in one language, saved as default, and then the language is changed, that custom question remains on the main panel until the program is restarted, though the other questions change to the new language. This is because the custom question has no translation to other languages. I am now writing the default questions to the config file on language change, so the translation occurs properly on restart. As other language changes don't take effect until restart, I am not too concerned about this because a restart will probably take place at that point anyhow. It is possible this necessity to restart on language change will go away in future as logic is put in place to deal with it better. I consider this pretty low priority, as I don't envision users switching languages willy nilly all the time. And right now, there aren't even languages to switch to. :-) The messages.pot file had an error in one of the user facing messages. This message had an embedded new line so I'm assuming the extraction process didn't capture it properly. It has been corrected manually. stan |

This release is mostly a bug fix release, though as part of the fixes the look and feel changed. The major fix is to the wrapping while asking the user for responses to the questions. If the response is long, it now wraps correctly on the main panel. This is now a separate frame, and is located at a different position than the main frame. Added a Cancel button to the user response screens. Modified the messages file for i18n, and changed the French template files to be more indicative. Cleaned it up. Tweak sizers so that panels adjust dynamically when their content changes. Removed the debug print statements when changing questions. |

Hi, There are bugs in the program. The text input doesn't wrap properly. The debug window comes up while running the change question dialog. Back to the drawing board. |

Hi, The program Do the Work has been released on sourceforge. It is a program meant to be used as an aid to the procedure called theWork of ByronKatie. It is simple, but should provide benefit. The program runs fine on my linux system, and because it is using python and wxPython, should run fine on windows and mac systems as well. However, because I don't have those systems, I can't compile a stand alone executable for them. Thus, to use it you will have to install python and wxPython. They are free, and links are provided on the website, http://dothework.sourceforge.net. stan |
