DoStuff 2 in CVS

After finally figuring out how to use CVS, I have put up the newest version of DoStuff, DoStuff 2. This version is what is currently being used at <a href="http://www.paullockaby.com">paullockaby.com</a> and is the result of using a strong, consistent, well tested and well developed code base for over a year on a high traffic site. After a few feature additions, a new release will be made.

DoStuff 0.2 Released!

This release has a HUGE number of fixes and additions to the code. Everyone who attempted to use any version of 0.1 is recommended to try out 0.2 as it has many more featuers and fixes. Most everything in the backend is finished. I have greatly simplified the scope of the site, removing content filters, forums and blocks. This is just the best release so far. Note that included in the release are the files for Smarty. These files don't do anything yet, but in the next release, templating will be included. Read the CHANGELOG for all the fixes.

Project Progress

After a long lull of almost two months in progress on the site, I have almost prepared a beta release of the 0.2 version of DoStuff Code. I hope to have it finished by the end of the week for testing. Once testing on the beta is released, I'll begin working on 0.3. Thanks all!

Database Patch

If you are having problems with the SQL file included with the release, there is a fix that I shall provide here. If you download the file http://www.dostuff.net/src/install.zip and unzip the install.php file into your public_html directory and assuming that your config.php file is properly set up (including file paths, database parameters, especially the DB_PRE directive), this will install your databases in a most painless way. So check it out. This file will be part of the next release.

DoStuff version 0.1 Released

I am proud to announce the immediate release of DoStuff Code version 0.1. While this code is incomplete, it is an excellent code base for what's to come. Features include user registration and participation with polls, discussions and article submission. Administrative tasks are handled through an intuitive backend with customizeable author permissions. Backend tasks are handled with a Perl shell script executed by CRON every so often to update things such as static content, poll results, article posting and dynamic content blocks. DoStuff Code works exclusively on Linux using Apache and MySQL. Download it today or goto http://www.dostuff.net and see a demonstration. DoStuff Online has been using DoStuff Code since February 2002 and is the active testing ground for all new enhancements and announcements for future development of this code.

Sourceforge Project Created

In order to make it easier for me to handle bugs and tracking and file releases when I get to that point, I have registered a Sourceforge project. Note that the website is still <A HREF="http://www.dostuff.net/">http://www.dostuff.net</A>, but this has the maintenance stuff on it.
